Welcome to my website. I’m Dyonna Benett – a heritage professional, curator, and storyteller.
With roots in Curaçao and the Dominican Republic, and raised in the Netherlands, my work lives at the intersection of heritage, art, and community..
What began as a personal journey tracing my mother’s migration and the passion for heritage I inherited from my grandfather has grown into a professional path defined by connection. I navigate between islands, archives, and generations, always seeking to center stories that have been overlooked or erased. My approach is layered and deeply rooted. I combine historical research, artistic expression, and community-driven methods to bring stories to life. I move between research and storytelling, between policy advice and cultural imagination. I collaborate with museums, archives, and cultural institutions to deepen narratives, open up collections, and shape projects that resonate. Past collaborations include the National Maritime Museum Amsterdam, the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands, the National Archives in The Hague, and the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten.
To me, heritage is not just about the past — it’s about how we shape the future together. I take on different projects at a time, always with care, depth, and room to dig.
Let’s connect.
